Sorting the Ipe Logs
After bringing in the logs to the mill, they are graded and sorted to determine the best yield. Ipe trees are huge! The trees are graded as to size and appearance. The older mills use an old hand with a steady eye to orient the logs for the greatest yeild. However, even in the jungle newer technology has arrived. Up to date laser guided saws can map and rotate the logs real time to serve up the greatest amount of lumber.
